The Division of Primary Care & Population Health in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University seeks a physician scientist to join the division as Assistant Professor in the University Medical Line or University Tenure Line. Applicants must have an MD or equivalent, with board eligibility or certification in medicine (family medicine, general internal medicine, geriatrics, or palliative care), and research interests in applied delivery science or implementation science. Postdoctoral training in applied clinical or health services research is preferred. We are particularly interested in candidates with methodological training, the ability to integrate effective interventions at the institutional level, and the potential for influential publication.

The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching. The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Faculty line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The successful candidate should have the ability to bridge service barriers with evidenced-based implementation strategies that are patient-centered and influential for addressing health inequities, in addition to the potential for productive collaborations with delivery system innovators and leaders. We expect the successful candidate to contribute to the department's mission through the mentoring and teaching of residents, fellows, and other graduate-level trainees associated with the Stanford University School of Medicine. Potential for obtaining competitive research funding and the ability to serve as the Primary Investigator of multidisciplinary research teams are highly desired.

The clinical content area should be within the broad bounds of our Division to include primary care, family medicine, general internal medicine, geriatrics, and palliative care. The research activities of the Division of Primary Care and Population Health are diverse. Current areas of focus include health policy, quality of care, delivery system innovation, pain and symptom measurement and management, goals of care communication, global health, appropriate use of medications, health informatics and other applications of technology and bioinformatics, organization science, implementation science, health economics, and biomedical ethics. These domains offer unique opportunities for the successful candidate to conduct team science with researchers in other clinical Divisions, the Departments of Health Policy and Epidemiology in the School of Medicine, in addition to Stanford's School of Business and School of Engineering.

The expected base pay range for this Assistant Professor position is $275,000 – $289,000.

This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It does not include all components of the School of Medicine's faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
